“Is God Really Good?”

When conflict, disappointment, pain, and struggle comes into our lives the enemy seizes his opportunity to start placing seeds of doubt within our hearts.

“Is God really good?”

When we face a tragedy within our family…
When we lose people we love…
When things don’t go the way we hoped for…
When the battle seems to rage on, and prayers go unanswered…

The enemy feeds on our weaknesses and whispers lies into our minds to muddle and confound our thoughts.

“Is God really good?”

When we start to compare our lives to those around us, and they seem to be blessed by God, but it feels like He has forgotten about us. When we believe we’re doing all the right things, but nothing is adding up and everything is going wrong.

“Is God really good?”

When we look around a broken world with so many broken and hurting people, we start to wonder through the prompts of the enemy,

“God, why are you allowing this to happen? Are you really good”?

The Word of God is tried and pure. Within God’s Word there is no lie.

The truth is that our God is good!

He is a good and loving Father. Not one minute do we suffer alone, but He suffers right beside us. He is always with us. He is always for us, and never against us.

We may not always understand or agree with God’s choices or actions, but we have to fully trust and believe that He is good. Our feelings and thoughts are limited, but He is all knowing. The plans He has for us are good.

So the next time the enemy tries to convince you otherwise, declare this truth boldly over yourself.

God is good and everything He does is for my good!

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

-Psalm 34:8

Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

-Psalm 106:1

How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you.

-Psalm 31:19

For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

-Psalm 100:5

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

-Romans 8:28

  1. I’ve been reflecting lately on the difference between facts and Truth. The facts of our suffering are real. At the same time, the Truth of God’s Word is also real. Those two things can seem like contradictions, but they’re not. When I get to that place of becoming overwhelmed by the hard stuff, I have to intentionally choose to focus on the Truth instead of relying solely on my feelings.
