About Me

I want to welcome you with all my heart and thank you for spending a few moments here with me. There are so many inspiring and encouraging Christian blogs written by Christian women doing their thing and doing it well. I don’t take it lightly that you are here. Your time is precious, and darling friend I value it.

My name is Jennifer, but most people call me Jen. I love God with all my heart, and know Jesus as my Savior. I am a mother of two beautiful girls. I have been a wife for 13 years to a man that I am madly in love with. I’m a hardworking employee in a rather stressful field. I love coffee, strong and black, and sweat tea. I love to be outside enjoying the creations of my Father, whether it be at the lake or on the trails in South Central Kentucky running or hiking. I love to garden, and I’m hopelessly addicted to Pinterest.

I know my background may be a bit different from other Christian writers, in the sense that I was not raised in a strong Christian household. As a child, I did not grow up attending church on Sundays, and there were no Wednesday night Bible studies. We did not turn to fasting and prayer in times of need. I did not grow up reading and memorizing scriptures or having conversations about faith with my parents. I never knew I could call on Jesus in times of trouble, sadness, sickness, defeat and fear. I did not grow up understanding the love of God or His amazing grace.

If I only accomplish one thing in my life, it will be to make sure my girls grow up strong in their faith, because as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

As an adult I believe everyone needs Jesus. I believe in the power of prayer, it can change everything. I believe worship can change an atmosphere. I believe His word can satisfy an unquenchable thirst, and is provision enough for me. I know my Heavenly Father loves me, and I know He has great things planned through me. I’m going to promise one thing, that as I strive to live a God first life it will be posted honestly and transparently. I’m far from a perfect Christian, but I’m working every day to be better than I was yesterday. I want nothing more than to place God first in my life, and to glorify Him through my works. I hope you come along with me into the unexpected, and leave each time a bit more inspired and encouraged. In a world filled with so much darkness we all need a little light. That my darling friend is why Letting His Light Shine was created. We all have His light within us, and in a world that can seem so very dark and heavy, I want mine to shine out and I want to encourage you to let yours shine too.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.

Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
